Bambi
Bambi was referred to us by Nicole, a public health nurse, who provides volunteer human health services at our clinics. This shy little Chihuahua weighs in at 2.27 kg, about the size of a small cat.
We first met Bambi and her owner at our One Health clinic in the fall of 2025. In addition to vaccinating, deworming and microchipping Bambi, our veterinarian noted that she was suffering from severe dental problems, retained baby teeth had caused rotation of other teeth, significant gum disease and pain.
A generous private sponsor agreed to share the cost, and VCA Pretoria Animal Hospital stepped in to perform skilled surgery at a generous discount. After several weeks of healing, Bambi’s mouth now feels much better.
The next step in Bambi’s journey to good health was to be spayed and our strong community connections allowed Bambi to receive excellent surgical care at Billings Bridge Animal Hospital with financial assistance provided by another local registered charity, HolliBell Foundation.
Several months after meeting Bambi, we can happily say that she is now in the best of health and her adoring owner is delighted.
We are only able to help pets like Bambi because of your financial support. We work hard to establish relationships with other organizations and local veterinary hospitals to ensure that your generous donations provide the greatest benefit. These funds ensure that we can provide our clients and their pets with the same services you or I expect: skilled veterinary care delivered with dignity and respect.
