Dr. Tatjana Mirkovic was born and raised in Brandon Manitoba. She earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2000 from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Saskatchewan. From there, she completed a one-year internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the Atlantic Veterinary College, University of PEI in 2001, followed by a residency in small animal internal medicine at the University of Tennessee, College of Veterinary Medicine in Knoxville, Tennessee. Dr. Mirkovic became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in 2004. She then travelled across the continent settling in Vancouver, BC where she took a job at a large private referral specialty hospital where she practiced for many years as an internal medicine specialist. In 2012 she created a mobile consulting specialty practice which has allowed her to bring internal medicine consultation and diagnostic services/procedures to owners and veterinarians in the comfort of their own general family veterinary hospitals. In addition to running this mobile specialty practice she provides locum services from time to time in internal medicine and oncology at referral specialty practices in BC and has provided continuing education for general veterinarians and consulted for industry partners. Her most recent new veterinary adventure spurred on by the desire to help her own dog with management of complex chronic pain has been the pursuit training in veterinary acupuncture through the International Veterinary Acupuncture Society and she has started providing acupuncture services at small animal practices in the metro Vancouver region. She has been a veterinarian volunteer with the CVO Vancouver Region since 2019 and has found the work helping people and pets in need extremely rewarding. She looks forward to serving the community as co-director of CVO Vancouver Region and looks forward to helping to grow the work the CVO is able to do in this region in the years to come with the help of her two co-directors and the dedicated Vancouver region volunteers.
