Award-Winning Leadership & Impact!

Dr. Susan Kilborn received the King Charles III Coronation Medal from the Government of Canada, for her work with Community Veterinary Outreach.

Ottawa, Canada

Community Veterinary Outreach (CVO) is a charity that provides care to communities across Canada, supporting pets and their people through One Health initiatives. CVO is excited to announce that our own COO and Regional Director, Dr. Susan Kilborn, has been recognized for her work in her community and across Canada with CVO.

Awarded by the Government of Canada, the King Charles III Coronation Medal is a Canadian honour. This distinction is used to recognize individuals who have made significant contributions to Canada. Dr. Kilborn was awarded under the category of HealthCare and Medicine.

I have had the honour of being Susan’s friend and colleague for over twenty years. I am inspired by Susan’s choice to focus her career on vulnerable people and their pets. She is a true practitioner of the One Health concept of medicine.
— Dr. Anne Downes, CVO Ottawa Regional Co-Director

Dr. Susan Kilborn is a very well-respected veterinary internal medicine specialist in Ottawa. However, she is even more respected for her focus on the importance of pet ownership for those who are marginalized in our society. She is the heart of the charity nationally and it would not exist without her.

There is no one more deserving of this recognition than Dr. Kilborn. Without Dr. Kilborn’s contributions and unwavering support, Community Veterinary Outreach would not be the organization it is today, serving communities across Canada. It has been my great honour and privilege to serve alongside Dr. Kilborn for over 20 years, and her leadership will continue to guide CVO into the future.
— Dr. Michelle Lem, Founder of Community Veterinary Outreach
